How can high or low temperature applied to the skin provides relief ?
Warm temperature applied topically is an effective means of relieving pain. Mild heat has a sedative effect on the nerve endings. Pain may also be caused by the accumulation in the tissues of waste product of metabolism and the increased blood flow through the affected area helps remove these products and so relieve pain. Muscles relax most readily when the tissues are warm, and the relief of pain does facilitate relaxation.

Cold temperature, on the other hand, will constrict blood vessels and reduce bleeding within the tissues thus facilitating initial healing of injuries.

Our range of thermo therapy products are therefore of great value as they can quickly be heated up in the microwave, mould themselves to the body and give instant warmth and pain relief. Perfect to ease arthritis, rheumatism and muscular aches and pain. Applied to the neck area, they will ease stress, tension, neck-ache and headaches. They can be placed in the freezer for one to two hours and applied cold to injury, sprained ankles and bruises, to lessen swelling. They are used cold as well to reduce fever.

The dried lavender flowers added to the wheat filling release essential oil when heated. Lavender essential oil is commonly used in aromatherapy. Its major clinical benefits are on the central nervous system and several studies supports its use as a sedative, anxiolytic and mood modulator.
